Excel Translation

GoAnywhere MFT™ can create Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to share detail and summary information with employees and trading partners. Additionally, data can be extracted from Excel spreadsheets and converted to other file formats or loaded into a database for further processing. GoAnywhere MFT supports Microsoft Excel 2003, 2007, 2010, and 2013.
 

Reading Excel

The data read from Excel spreadsheets can be imported into database tables or translated into other formats including fixed-width text, delimited text, and XML. The following user-specified options are available when reading Excel spreadsheets: 
  • Specify sheet name to read
  • Row number where column headings are located
  • Starting row number for data
  • Field (column) types and sizes
  • Trim options
  • Formatting options for dates and numbers
  • Null substitute values
  • Pass in variables (at runtime) to override attributes

Writing Excel

Microsoft Excel .xlsx and .xls spreadsheets can be created from database values or from data extracted in other files such as delimited text, fixed-width, flat files and XML documents. When defining an Excel conversion, you can choose to use an Excel Template which may contain predefined headings, fonts, formulas, etc. The following user-specified options are available when creating Excel spreadsheets in GoAnywhere MFT:
  • Custom titles, page headers, column headings and footers
  • Support for Excel Templates
  • Multiple sheet support
  • Custom column widths and row heights
  • Selectable fonts, font sizes, colors, alignment, etc.  (by sheet or by column)
  • Formatting options for dates and numbers
  • Append to the end of existing Excel documents
  • Replace existing Excel documents
  • Pass in variables (at runtime) to override attributes

After an Excel spreadsheet is generated, GoAnywhere MFT can then compress or encrypt the file and store it on the network or distribute the file to a remote server. You can also password protect your Excel spreadsheets with AES encryption.
