iSeries Monitoring of Active Job Status

I am trying to create a project to monitor the status of iSeries active jobs and email us if any jobs have MSGW status.
I understand that it is possible, but requires the use of Goanywhere and Surveyor. We have both, and I would like to make this happen. If you could give me some pointers that would be great. I can make the WRKACTJOB create a spool file, but I don't know how to get the spool file into a readable format so I can Search it for the MSGW status.
